The Tech Kid Blog… Apple and The iPhone 6 & 6 Plus

Welcome back to the tech kid blog!

Today we are, of course, going to be talking about the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus as well as all the drama surrounding it.

I’ve had some time to play with both and have a few comments. Now those of you who have read my previous blogs know that I’m an avid apple user and supporter BUT, over the last few days I’ve heard nothing but the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus having problems. Especially with Apples new iOS 8.0 software.

Lets start with the new phones. The essential difference here is the screen size (iPhone 6 is 4.7 inch and iPhone 6 Plus is 5.5 Inch) and the new phones being a bit thinner in design. As per usual the new iPhones have gorgeous displays but can that make up for the subpar software? The two new iPhones were released in tandem with the new software that ALL iPhone 4S and above can upgrade too. My personal advice is if you don’t have an iPhone 5 or 5S I wouldn’t even think about updating to this new iOS 8 software. It will slow down your phone significantly. Going back to the phones they also have new longer battery life and a new larger memory option of 128Gb.

When the IOS 8 software was released there were a lot of glitches happening across all versions of the iPhone. Apple quickly put out a new update iOS 8.0.1. This is where the real problems began. After updating to this new software peoples phones wouldn’t even connect to their cellular network to make a phone call. The Touch ID lock to get into their phones wasn’t working (thank goodness Apple requires you make a PIN just in case Touch ID doesn’t work), it was a disaster. Apple quickly responded with this statement:

“We are actively investigating these reports and will provide information as quickly as we can, In the meantime, we have pulled back the iOS 8.0.1 update.”

So apple did take action, but what about the millions of iPhone users that have already updated their phones? Apple has given them steps on how to reset there iPhones through iTunes and go back to the previous software. They have also promised a new update iOS 8.0.2 coming out within the next few days.

That’s all information I have now I will keep you all updated in my next blog!
